There have been a number of tutorials about using NASA pictures to create
a realistic Earth but the BlenderGuru one is the best, in my opinion:

I suspect the star field is random. Or is it also a real footage?

Yeah, it's random - and pretty weak.

I started trying to model nebulas but they're hard to do!
