That's just ... wow. A different style of food I suppose. But not so different from pickled eggs or Solei (German) -

yup sounds similar... just a lot prettier ;-) ... but unfortunately i didn't taste these pretty eggs.

Take a look at the century eggs - a traditional Chinese recipe:

It's "a Chinese cuisine ingredient made by preserving duck, chicken or quail eggs in mixture of clay, ash, salt, lime, and rice straw for several weeks to several months, depending on the method of processing." -Wikipedia

Now, they look funky :-)
