very interesting, is this good enough for a high quality scan? I found that the very rare pics of my family are mediocre prints at the best - both sides of my family were victims of WWII bombings, not much left anyway, which makes the few pics even more dear to the heart.

I love old pics of craftsmanship, many of the old traditions are endagnered or even dying out, and I wonder if we might need the lost knowledge one day?

Thanks, Anita

Dhania, the photo is perfect! You know those old metal prints? Very bright, very sharp. My grandmother asked me to make everything digital, hundreds of old photos! I'll post some here.

me encantan las fotos antiguas, de hecho las cosas antiguas, y hacer comparativos de como ha cambiado las tecnologias, las costumbres, la vida. y obviamente el recuerdo de nuestros antepasados

muy buena foto

Wowww, such a stunning old photography! At the time when people had a looong thought before actually taking a pic.. ;))

Fun thing is, I've got several shoemakers among my ancestors, in both branches of my family. So, we've got similar photographs.

Hey Thomas, where was this taken? I'm supposing this isn't Brazil.

Paulo, it is Brasil!
Álvares Machado, west of São Paulo,
we are not sure about the year, but my mother supposes
it was around 1940.

Hey, I wasn't expecting that! Were they born in Brazil? I absolutely love the Singer sewing machine in the photo.

No, Paulo, they were born in Japan and came
to Brasil in 1918, worked in a cotton farm in Ribeirão Preto, then moved to the far west (ehehe) running away from slave work and reached Álvares Machado, where they raise their children (my grandmother).
