You have to try with Bulgarian grape brandy (rakia), boiled with 2-3 spoons of sugar (or honey) -- so called boiled rakia (or hot rakia). It's the best recipe for getting well when you have problems with a sore throat.

No, it could be transparent or slightly yellow but never turns white in water like Uzo. More about our famous rakia .

btw, we also have a drink which turns pale white in water (or with ice, usually) -- it is mastika -- not so good for a sore throat, although :)
