Nice composition. And lovely colour, especially in the sharp area along the back and side of the animal, and the grain of the wood. Comparing this edited shot with your original, you've obviously taken a lot of time and care over it, which has certainly paid off!

(My only suggestion, and it's really for future reference, would be to have the eye of the animal in focus: we attend particularly to eyes - whether people's or animals' - and you can get away with even a very narrow DOF if at least one of the subject's eye is in focus.)
