hey b!! yes this jazzing was more fun - one of the shows of the year truly. just an amazing lineup and despite my fears was very well organized and full of music (and put on by aaron goldberg:) diane reeves, stefon harris, roy haynes, dee dee bridgewater, charlie hunter, christian mcbride and on and on. the two who stole the show for me (and tha twas a tough trick this night)...stanley jordan. wow! this guy playing a bach adagio with both hands wrapped round the neck of his guitar the whole time - almost superhuman, alien in its incredibleness. oh and bilal! with robert glasper on piano, did an original piece of neo-soul weirdness and crashing beauty that left me stunned

hey mister insky, gracias for the wonderful review!! many great names, huh? so glad you are able to snick into these wonderful events and with your camera!! here in SoCal, i am learning that cameras are not allowed in most of the shows, buuuuu :( but hey that way i can actually enjoy the shows

and as for Obama's festival, yes! wow on the selection, and that gives me even more fuel to vote for him (not that we have any other choice ;)) but with this line-up at least one feels comfortable that what he might lack on politics experience is compensated with the wonderful musical taste!

last night, the conner, the perro, and myself, the 3 of us drove to LA for Antony and the J's concert, the LA philharmonic orchestra and a wonderful transvestite voice were the delight indeed! hope you can catch in in NY, even if it's not the music of your preference the show was truly a hypnotizing spectacle (not the lights or set ups but the actual musicians and just his voice) and as perro put it: not every Tuesday you get to see a transvestite playing with a philharmonic... also we had the chance to walk around downtown Los Angeles and got a couple of shots (coming soon) downtown LA with all those mexicans (heh heh conner & perro kept on asking me for translation of signs) among the very old buildings were truly an experience, you were missed there!
