death of a bookstore 40/50 - astor place barnes & noble - fire alarm. the control center for a tinderbox. that was unmonitiored for at least a year. meaning the place coulda gone up in flames and the trucks woulda only come when the neighbors got too warm. not that the people inthe various corporate positions didn't know. oh, they knew too well. but no one did a damn thing. they played pass the corporate buck, and we prayed. anyways, a peek at the control center - of nothing
