Hey, insky--I'm takin' the first part ;)

Hiya, pd! "our redhead" is pictured above. (Pimp Daddy, meet Carolyn, Carolyn, Pimp Daddy.) Carolyn is (actually she 'was' [sniff, sniff]she just transferred to a new store) the community relations manager at the store. That title involves a lot of things, but part of the job is arranging for authors to come in and do book signings--50 cent, e.g.

Yep! I'm also a community relations manager. But in a different store. Insky and I used to work together at my store, but he's been at the one above for a while now.

Yeah--even though the job gets a little too nuts for me in Sept./Oct. I do really enjoy what I do.

Insky is the assistant manager. Meaning a whole heap of job responsibilities, too. Staff training, scheduling, merchandising (setting up displays), crisis mgmt. (that means anything from staffing issues, to backed up toilets, you name it)etc., etc. But the piece of his job that he loves THE MOST is talking books with customers. Unfortunately, as with many jobs, the favorite piece is the piece one gets to do the least. Although, Insky is pretty good about making sure he gets a healthy dose of book-talkin' in each day. :))

It's busy all year round, but one reason Sept/Oct. are the busiest/craziest because it's the biggest season for book publishing. So there are many, many more authors on book tours that time of year. Plus some of the other aspects of my job shift into high gear during Sept./Oct. also. It's funny--last year I had a crazy Sept./Oct. and decided I'd set up a schedule more conducive to my sanity for Fall '07. I failed miserably. ha I'm definitely not the only one who feels the fall crush tho'. Everybody I talk to in the book business and beyond seems to be insanely busy. Just the nature of the game.


Yeah, Insky does have his hands full for sure.
