music 5 - troubadours
the reason i came out, and they didn't disappoint. years ago (!!!) when i saw them, they were playing acoustic dueling guitar flamenco and classical standards with light bass and percussion (and a mighty fine job of it too - all four are exceptionally gifted musicians). but what i saw that night was nothing short of amazing. they have taken those traditions and wedded them to rock, amplified and electrified it and written their own songs, most of which just blew me away. oh, and a stunning ry cooder cover. got a copy of the new cd "motor city, windy city" , half studio and half live - well worth it.
