Maybe a (tasteful) HDR could approximate the truth of the actual scene more closely?

Hmmm, Great idea! I guess a high dynamic range photo could improve the impression, but I didn't think ahead. This is the only one I have. Do you know if something similar can be made with postprocessing based on a single image?

Perhaps you'd be looking for something less cartoony, but I think that link in the comments should have what you need to know. You can create an HDR from one photo, as long as that photo was shot in RAW. You reprocess +/- 2.0 EV photos from the original, then continue as per usual.

This is awesome! I never could see the idea of shooting raw, but I'll diffinately have to shoot some and play around with this!
