It was built in the 7th century, formed from monolithic rocks. In the 18th century Ahilya Bai Holkar ordered to reconstruct the temple. Popularly known as Garuda Tirth, the temple has an outlet in the form of Gomukh. The water which is flowing through the Gomukh, falls on the Shiva Lingam. The original Shiva Lingam is 12 ft in height and now under the water in sunken temple. The present temple is constructed on the hollow temple. On every Shivaratri, a fair is organized in the honour of the Lord Shiva. |
