It is my first try on a "hdr". Actually it is a pseudo hdr, as I used only one raw file. I developed the raw file with -1/0/+1 ev exposure correction and created a hdr with Qtpfsgui . For tone-mapping I played around with the different algorithms offered. This is the result of the "Fattal" algorithm. An HDR image that I like. Rare. I think it's justified when you want painterly effects, and this certainly looks more like a painting than a picture. Clearly there is an actual reason and artistic purpose to use HDR with this image, as opposed to it merely being used as an 'effect'

Just one RAW file you say? Maybe I'll try that out (I assumed you needed a tripod for HDR work).

Well it's possible to make a fake/pseudo HDR from a single RAW file. You just have to save an under- and overexposed version of that RAW file and then merge them together as yu would when creating a true HDR picture.
