Helmsdale River
Its a gold river from all the gold sources on both banks that feed gold into it.This is approximately halfway between Helmsdale and Baile an Or.
I stopped as the field here was filled with a herd of deer. With hindsight photographing them is easier. They when i got out of the car moved off and are on the bank just down from the green hut centre. some have swum across the river and are on the far bank.
If you stay in your car you can get to within two feet of them .
It can cost £2000 a week if you stay at one of the lodges upstream and want to fish for salmon. My advice would be to go to Edzell Angus and go to the post office and pay £8 for a days salmon fishing on the West Water. On that river I saw people catch salmon something that was not happening on the Helmsdale.
