Water Of Moness
My first Scottish gold nugget got just here. Between the big boulder centre right and the two smaller boulders centre left had more loose gravel than now showing. I was going to throw it away as such loose top flood gravel never has gold in it. A 0.25 gram nugget and lots of gold flakes told a different story. The big boulder is wedged up against the side of the rivers bedrock and goes down much further than you think giving a gap filled with gravel of just a few inches . it was a perfect gold trap and after the initial gold and nugget on the first pans thought I was onto a bonanza. Days later my labours getting not one sausage of gold at four feet down started panning broken glass!!! I restarted panning the loose gravel around the two smaller boulders and found more gold and another nugget. Started going down over a foot in depth into very compacted gravel to absolute ziltch.
