The Mennock Pass Dumfriesshire
This in 1500 would have been the bonanza area as its in 99% probability where all the main gold in the valley was dropped in a placer deposit. The dips and undulations in the grass tell the story of the diggings. Its very much favoured by Scots particularly Glasweigans as a free place to camp up with tents or caravans next to the river. Its a good place for goldpanners to camp up except for the fact the gold is incredibly hard to find as they took very nearly all gold there was to be had in this section in 1500. But gold is coming into the Mennock from the burn a few yards away from the caravan.
