The River Rhone comes to the junction from the Lake Geneva, since the waters of Arve come from the glaciers of the Chamonix valley. So, the concentration of the silt suspended in the waters is different. The view is similar to that of the mouth of the Amazon River :D

Aha, I expected something like this, but... uh, never such amazing difference. Actually, a colleague from Geneva said sometimes the difference is not so clearly visible, but this was the case when I was there :)
