OMG! What have you done, my Dear! This is simply perfect! The colours, the composition and your two models. I would suggest, you put a large print of this on your wall! :***)

It is beautiful Gergana, I say that as someone who loves life, photos with life inside them and as an entomologist! Truly spectacular!

Thank you so much, my friends! I am very happy you like it. These two fellow gave me some minutes of pure pleasure taking pictures of them. Some more will come later... Besides, this is one of my favorite flowers I know from my childhood :)
LoL! :***)

moo, could you help with the names of these beauties, please :)

moo September 27, 2010, 10:06 PM
Well I can try... :)

It looks to me like the beautiful butterfly is a common blue (Polyommatus icarus). These are far from common in the UK anyway, though we have had many more this year then normal as for once, we sort of had a summertime :). I am guessing she was very blue when she opened her wings? There are lots of blue butterflies in the Polyommatus genus though so its very possible it was another type of blue.

Then there is the lovely bee on the left. I am not a hymenoptera person but if I were a gambler, I would wager towards it being a solitary bee of some kind. I shall check with a hymenopterist at work tomorrow! Watch this space...

Then lastly there is the flower. I am afraid aside from it being really beautiful I have no idea what it is. Is it a chrysanthemum of some kind?

Very very beautiful series of captures irrespective of names!

Cool shot, with the two in one shot.
And then there is the light and the vibrance of the colours. Really nice.

"I am guessing she was very blue when she opened her wings?"

Yes, it is blue (but what type of blue? maybe bright :))! I'll post some more photos later on.
Thank you very much, moo! I think maybe the flower is kind of Aster. Maybe Jet Link could help as well.

Thank you so much, Marco and Ani! I am delighted you like the duet-series! :***)

Hello, the considered opinion from a bumblebee person at work is that the bee is either from the genus Colletes or Lasioglossum. We both would veer towards it being Colletes but its too close for me to call. We could also be completely wrong. Eitherway as mentioned earlier, its a beautiful sight! :)

Thanks a lot for the effort, moo! I think this bee might be the same one like this. .. if that could be additional information. For about 20 minutes a lot of these small bees came to this flower - happy me, indeed :D
