candlelit crucifix
one of my favorite pics of the whole trip. If you don't know what this symbolizes, or what the word "tetelisti" (paid in full, it is finished) means to you.. let me tell you Jesus isn't just dead. He died so that our debts are paid, and then He rose so that we have Life and Life to the full.. with Him forever!! And nothing can separate that. Give it a chance. It has been worth it for me.. and it will always be worth it. It's NOT about religion or rules, btw. It's about Love. . . . And those candles I think you can buy as prayer candles or something. I'm not quite a hundred percent sure on all Catholic symbolism or meanings or whatever, so if I am even hinting at the wrong things in these pictures please let me know! I think it's beautiful.. this trip definitely gave me insight into the beauty of Catholicism.. and as always, in anything Christ-following, (as my Catholic-school-going-friend taught me, "as long as tradition doesn't take away from the beauty of the relationship to Christ, then it's fine") (not verbatim...!). But it helped me see just how beautiful and deep Catholic art is.. how it portrays messages to the people who couldn't read.. etc.
