When we moved into the village, Jim lived in the house opposite us. He had been born here shortly after the turn of the century and lived in the village all of his life. He died in 1998, aged 95 years old. After his death, the villagers raised a collection to have this bench placed in the churchyard in his memory.

The inscription on the bench reads:

In Memory Of
Jim Coles
1903 - 1998

Austin needs more benches... but alas I wouldn't want to have to get them that way... but it is a nice tradition after the fact! :-)
