Every July 4th, this flag drops from the ceiling of the Hatch shell during the pop's final piece for the night: Stars and Stripes Forever (one of my favorites). The musical time slows down, Old Glory unfurls, the confetti guns cut loose, and the crowd (flags a wavin') cheers with a gusto that can (almost) be heard throughout Metro Boston. American pride is palpable. It is a beautiful, awe inspiring, I dare say almost tear jerking piece of the show.
