Acute/Chronic Heart Failure Model - Heart failure (HF) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the United States (about 5 million people in the U.S. have heart failure). HF diminishes quality of life and it contributes to 300,000 deaths each year. Despite a number of important therapeutic advances for the treatment of symptomatic HF, the prevalence, mortality, and cost associated with HF continue to grow in the United States and other developed countries.
