I like the idea of carrying around only two lenses when traveling.

What an awesome lens. This may inspire me to actually get out of the office this month and take some photos. Traded in my rarely used Sigma 12-24mm (http://www.23hq.com/clvrmnky/photo/1648882?album_id=1648972) and the Nikon kit lens (http://www.23hq.com/clvrmnky/photo/1648878?album_id=1648972) for this one.

This lens is an engineering marvel. Solid, professional build (no tele-creep on this one!) and the optics are amazing. No obviosu fringing or chromatic aberrations, even in the most demanding situations. Focuses faster than anything I've ever used. Single-button switch to manual focus over-ride. Focuses down to /inches/ and yet feels like a 250mm zoom.

This is now my no. 1 lens for everyday use. It replaces a bagful of glass. For traveling I'll need this one and maybe a fast prime and a longer telephoto.
