Love them too. They are called "coquilles Saint-Jacques" in French, as they are the symbol of the pilgrims who did the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela (in French Saint-Jacques de Compostelle)
I wonder if those guys enjoyed eating them too!

I'll have to experiment on macros, too. I haven't done that yet, as my big camera does a good job of macros and zooming stuff.
