Голштинские ворота являются символом Ганзы. Они выполнены в стиле кирпичной готики. Голштинские ворота относились к крепостным укреплениям Ганзы. До 1864 года комплекс ворот имел каскад из четырех оборонных сооружений. Ворота служили защитой города от возможного нападения со стороны Датского королевства и голштинских герцогов. В настоящее время ворота имеют две башни: северную и южную. Их соединяет центральный пролет. Обе башни выполнены из черного и красного кирпича. Окна сделаны в виде бойниц. В центральной части Голштинских ворот нет первого этажа. Его заменяет проход через каменные ворота. Современное строение имеет пять этажей. На фронтоне ворот находится надпись, высеченная золотыми буквами. Ворота всегда открыты. Кстати, площадь, находящаяся перед ними, используется местной властью для проведения торжественных мероприятий и зрелищных концертов. Внесены в список всемирного наследия ЮНЕСКО.

Holstentor is the symbol of the Hanseatic League. It's made in the style of brick Gothic. Holstentor belonged to the fortifications of the Hanseatic League. Until 1864 the complex cascade of the gate had four defense installations. Gates served as defense of the city against a possible attack by the Kingdom of Denmark and the Duke of Holstein. At the moment the gates are two towers: the north and south. Their connects central span. Both towers are made of black and red brick. The windows are made in the form of loopholes. In the central part of the Holstentor Gate are no ground floor. It replaces the passage through the stone gates. The modern building has five floors. On the pediment of the gate there is an inscription, carved in golden letters. The gates are always open. Incidentally, the area, located in front of them, used by local authorities for the celebrations and spectacular concerts. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
