Monolithos Castle was built by the Knights of Saint John, to protect the island from foreign invaders and pirates. Seen from the impression of the castle, that he seemed to "grow" out of the rock, which is not surprising - the word "Monolithos" is translated from Greek as "stone". Now this once-majestic castle destroyed, preserved only headers, exterior walls, and a small chapel Panteleimon the Healer
