Biketography

Semi-crazy idea I got ('I got' because I haven't seen anyone else doing this, which somewhat surprises me...):

=== Fourth run ===
I've made a quick grip mounting bracket which actually provide a less wobbely mount and gives me more flexibility. Unfortunately the entire construction tends to rotate a bit, and after 10 minutes of bicycling or so, it has rotated as much as 90 degrees.

=== Second run ===
I went with a higher ISO (200 instead of 125) and tried the Nikkor 50mm/f1.8 instead. Also I tried to tighten the bracket a little more. The final was a less wobbely installation and some more focused and sharp images. It still took 320 raw shots to produce 7 images, but I think the endresult is better than the first time. Also going for shutter-priority with a shutter-time at 1/320 sec worked better than going for aperture time at f1.8.

The installation is still to wobbely though and I think I'll also have to move the cam up. Also currently the pod-mount is at 79cm above ground (putting the center of the lens at some 85cm), which may present a bit of a problem. I'm going for a stearing-bar mount of sorts, which I should be able to fixate a little more.

=== First run ===
I took a Manfrotto 234RC pod head (I bought a six-pack of those a while ago), bolted it to an old angle bracket, which in turn was mounted on the front of the bicycle. Then i took my trusty D80, put on the even more trusty Tokina 12-24mm lens and connected the Phottix wired timer-remote, adjusted it for 15 sec intervals, and threw myself into the crazy traffic of Copenhagen.

In theory not a bad idea and in all fairness, it actually did hold some merit. Initially though the camera was set for ISO 100, aperture mode and f/9 and centerweight average.

Because of the angle bracket (being old and all) the entire construction turned out a bit wobbely. A cord removed some of the wobbelyness, but not all of it, so I went for ISO 125, shutter mode and 1/200 sec. Much better. There's still some room for improvement, but for a first off it isn't bad :)

The next time I'll try with a little higher ISO-setting and I'll definitely use a lens hood of sorts. I might also try the 50mm/f1.8 lens instead, to get a more closeup line of shots.

The camera is a tad less than one metre above street level.
