I originally made this for ships usage. A lot of the surfaces on a ship is magnetic and because of the ships rolling and pitching a regular tablepod wasn't usefull. It is basically a welding magnet and a loose head from a monopod. The head is attached to the magnet with a bolt (that is secured with glue).
It is strong enough to stabilize my camera with the 70-200mm f/2.8 VR attached (the objective is rather well-balanced), but also usefull for other things
