Use Keywords in Your URLs for Search Engine Optimization
I just wrote a blog post for the Standing Dog Blog that talks about the search engine optimization tips I have been providing over the years. For this search engine optimization tip, let us talk about putting keywords in your URLs, and keywords in your file names. Here is why it is important to include your keywords in your filenames and in your URLs. This is just one search engine ranking factor, but because people do see your URL in the actual search results, putting your keywords in your URLs will help with the clickability factor: people are more likely to click a URL that includes a keyword they are searching for rather than a URL that does not include a keyword. So, putting your keywords in your URLs is not just good for search engine optimization, it is a good practice.
