carnicería o meat is murder

i had mixed feelings about posting this photo, on one hand it shows how the meat gets to Autlán's central market, you can get really fresh meat there, but also it's so sad and violent, devastating to see a freshly dead animal like this... i understand vegetarians, a sad view, but a real one from this small mexican town... i will vegetarian soon, i just know it... can't them any more...

Very interesting, Bere. I also have mixed feelings about it and I have been a vegeterian for some time, all though I've started eating meat again... But I do understand vegeterians!

yeah marie and nellyb, i am not vegetarian yet... but i do been thinking about it for a while, i try to do stuff like buying cage-eggs and try to send letters against animal cruelty, but don't think that's enough... i guess one can justify eating meat but what we cannot justify is the cruelty that many of these animals suffer while being alive and the ways they die, and that we can change even if still eating meat... specially in big cities... it's a tough world these of meat eaters anyways, glad you were doing it marie :)

A very well-taken shot, despite the grisly subject matter. The greenish cast (from fluorescent lighting, I imagine) adds to the slightly sick feeling it gives me.

Oh, Bere, this photo is scary but this is the way we can appreciate food too. Yeah, once my father told me that cows cry before they are slaughtered, I couldn't eat beef. I didn't know thist is how you guys bring beef to the town. Cool though.

hi Steve, you are right, the green of the light makes the shot even scarier

dear Lisa, that story on the cows crying before being slaughtered is as heart-breaking as this picture...

it makes one sad and mad, so many injustices we humans have committed (and still commit every day!) against the poor animals that got stuck sharing a planet with us miserable humans!!! :(((
