I only had a brief stop at Taranaki but I was able to walk from the luxuriant rain forest at the base of the mountain to the alpine zone then covered in snow (well, actually I did drive a bit in the middle). My pictures of the volcanic cone didn't do it justice but I won't forget my views of that white peak against the blue sky.
