West_Coast
This is a taster of Okarito, a small village on the West Coast. The main purpose of my trip there was to catch up on reading, but as you can see I did get out to appreciate the scenery - the beach, lagoon, forest and mountain back-drop. It is a really wonderful place. I also saw two kiwis, but couldn't take pictures of them!
On arrival the village was shrouded by low cloud and it rained almost continuously for two days. That is not unexpected on the West Coast so, rather than being depressing, it felt quite atmospheric - the shadowy trees fading into the distance and the patterns the rain made on the sand and lagoon. I was also able to enjoy the log burner in my rented cottage. Then the sun appeared and I was able to take some photos.......
