German "American Cookies"
Once upon a time, I was in Regensburg. One day, I ate lunch at Subway and ordered the "Menü," or meal, with cookie. I chose the chocolate chip cookie. Then, I ate it. Then, after eating the first chocolate chip cookie in 2 months, I was reminded of how much I like chocolate chip cookies. Later, I was in Real, the store that is like Meijer, wandering around looking for some chocolate because chocolate is delicious (except the best chocolate is to be found in Kaufland, not Real). I wandered in to the Süßwaren (sweets) aisle and looked at the cookies, which were mostly biscuit-like cookies as usual. But then I saw them! There was one package! Well, not one package so much as one option, but that is not important.
What were they? They were American Cookies! Which, apparently, means chocolate chip cookies. So, I bought them. Then I brought them home. I wondered if they would be like real chocolate chip cookies, so I opened the package...
...and sure enough, they looked like chocolate chip cookies. And then I tasted it. It tasted like a chocolate chip cookie! A storebought chocolate chip cookie, but a chocolate chip cookie, nonetheless.
And then I ate some more because cookies are delicious. And that is the story of German "American Cookies."
