He is just a harddrive, lonsome and blue,
He stores yoor data and pictures for you......

Atmospheric and personable little thing with it's bright shining eye! ;o) Greetings from my mouse and my water cooker, they also have blue lights, alone amongst things that got red or yellow control lamps....

Top poetry IMHO, Sonja! Many thanks!
This is the only appliance I have with a blue light, all else is red! And yes, I think it does get lonely!

Perhaps you didn't know Frans, but they had to take the site down temporarily for urgent maintenance work. They couldn't say how long the site would be down but hopefully it will back some time today!
Best wishes, Andy

Well, my mouse is online often if your harddrive should be interested to talk to an other blue and sad appliance. LOL

Interesting, Sonja! I didn't know blue mouse lights were possible! I've only seen red! Or do you mean the mouse rather than the light? Anyway my external hard drive will talk to anything with a light - not the fussiest of hard drives!

Thank you, Nadia!

I have an old external HD case whose LEDs are blue for power on the top front end and flashing orange when working (transferring or accessing data) on the top back end. It's one of my fav. devices 'cause the lights are bright and out of the ordinary. Will have to take a shot of it one day so your HD can have a buddy ;) Unfortunately, it's older tech. -- pushing 20yrs. in service -- and, therefore, has limited storage capability as the tech. from back then limited/limits hard drive size (capacity). I use it mainly to maintain a digital capture of my online photo gallery in PDF format --- so, not the actual files but an image capture of each pg. in each album to know which photos from my vast collection I have in my online archives should I ever need to recreate them (like when I ditched ipernity for this site).

It's funny how you don't really notice what color the LED lights on various appliances and gadgets are until someone posts a shot like this and it gets you to be more observant..... My parents have a toaster with tiny, yet amazingly bright blue LEDs which are on when the toaster is ... ummm.... toasting =)

And yes, blue LED mice are possible but aren't as good in terms of tracking capability. They're more of a novelty item than for really serious use. There are some whose tracking laser is red, but have blue LEDs lighting up the rest of it.... They're a bit more effective, but still not a mouse power users or gamers would bother with.

All very interresting, Fizgig!
Many thanks and have a good weekend!

No the mouse shines red to the table where it works with light, the blue light is just a design shining upward in the pretty form of a triskele, much like the blue light in my glass watercooker at the other end of the flat, that is mostly without any purpose as well, it just illuminates the whole water until it boils roaring high and ends the process thereby , so you see it is working in case all the noise and the bubbles are not enough of a hint. :o) That toaster of Fizgigs folks sounds so similar, I have to wonder if that is from the same series. Illuminated mystery teawater and toast, what's next?

As for gamer, those big kids doing LAN parties buy the most weird overpriced stuff as long it is new and cool. One of our nephews had a translucent keyboard glowing yellow so you could see the whole interrior of the thing lighting up the room around it gently when he was a teen, and was he ever proud of that. But I guess that kind of thing went also out of fashion again.
My mouse in it's heyday was a super pricey little thing, but it stayed at the store somehow, still having a cord. Having a cord just had become uncool apparently. I rescued it at about 30% of the original price, a razer abyssus optical gaming mouse, from times when many other uncool people still had a rubber ball and no light at all below. :o)

I have onlly ever used a mouse with a cord, Sonja! I din't know there was any other kind!! As for gaming, this is completely beyond me. I used to enjoy ping pong or was it tennis and then Pacman and then Space Invaders. All these seem like yesterday but I presume a long time ago in reality! After that I stopped for good! Or at least that is what I think you mean by 'gamer'. If not, then I don't know what it means!

LOL
Back when Benjamin went to those LAN-parties he tried at least to explain to me what it was but I understood not much. It was about something like a group of boys meeting with laptops, sharing only potatochips and coke in the physical world, comparing gear and then doing some sort of role advetures in the virtual one all night.

I actully never quite got the things my nephews and later the elder children of the next gerneration in the family do at their laptops, or meanwhile on the smartphone. It is to different from my computer activities. But the looks and add ons of the stuff seem rather important.

At the last family reunion I sat across a grandniece for lunch, and all smiles and attention I got most of the time was from an emoticon printed on some kind of a suction cup knob at the back of her cell to hold it more relaxed in front of her face all the time. The thing is her baby, according to her mom it has a shoebox full of different protective shells to match her own outfits everyday and it wears it's own jewelry, a chain full of lucky charms, including some stuff with some sort of use like a fake pencil for touch screen use and others are just useless knick-knacks t mix and match. So this is what pre-teen girls of today play dress up with. :o(
