I'm so confused! Do you vacation in Cornwall? Did you used to live there?

I like the atmosphere and the crispness of the colors here. Looks like a nice place to live.

Thank you, Fizgig. I haven't looked inside yet ...
One day ...

Hi Laura.
OK, here goes. My Mum's family are from Cornwall and many of them still live there. I spent a few years as a child there but most of my life in London. I have always visited Cornwall as often as I could. My parents retired down there 20 years ago and I continued to visit and explore, but never with a camera!
My business went belly up at the start of this last recession and I lost everything and was lucky in that my parents had a spare room. I moved down there. I spent 2009 and 10 there and explored like mad! I had a car, but no job and no camera!
In the end, I had to do something and I re-trained as a Business English teacher and went to live and work in Spain, where my Sister and her family (very Spanish!) live. It was her idea that I should do this and it was a good one. So from 2011 I have been working in Madrid and return to Cornwall on holiday most summers, this time with either a camera-phone, a digital, a smart phone or a combination!
I hope that all made sense!!!
Best wishes,
Andy

The left building with the rounded end is quite intriguing.

Following Sonja; What is the function of he left building with the rounded end?

The first floor is a music school. I often hear terrific blasts of Beethoven, Dvorack or Cole Porter as I pass!

So we may assume that levels with the panorama galleries above is something like conference or ball facilities?
Andy Rodker April 22, 2018, 08:36 PM
Not really. I guess there are individual tutoring and practice rooms and the larger areas for chamber music or small orchestra practice. They give concerts but not here: not enough space for an audience! I have their programme for later in the year and we will go to a concert but in a concert hall elsewhere in Madrid.

Hi Andy, nice to see and read a complete story of your life here, not that I always think it is wise to bare all on these sites nowadays but... that's just me. I like the lighting on here and as already spoken of here, the music school building looks really cool.
Cheers, Herb

Thanks Herb!
I thought about it but reasoned that there was nothing in my story to attract scammers, spammers, etc!
Best wishes,
Andy

Hi Andy, Thanks for clearing up my confusion. Why I think people stay in one place for extended periods of time I don't know. I've only ever lived two places, quite opposites of each other, Oregon (where I was born and raised) and Arizona - yikes! There's a weird connection between Arizona and Oregon. People seem to move back and forth from there a lot. I only stayed in Arizona for a few short years, the rest of my life has been residing in Oregon with happy travels elsewhere.

Hi Laura,
I know you and Diana get on famously on ipernity, but do you two meet up occasionally, or is Oregon just too big a place for that to happen?
raingirl May 24, 2018, 04:42 AM
Hi Andy,
You mean Diane Putnam? We haven't met yet, though have casual plans to do so if we are in each other's area. Oregon is about 300 miles (475 km) top to bottom (and about 400 miles - 636 km - across). It takes about 5 or 6 hours to get from top to bottom, and Diane lives at the bottom and I live at the top! I was close to her once, but before I knew exactly where she was. She says she sometimes gets up here to Portland, but hasn't since we've connected. Perhaps we will meet in the middle one day soon. Why do you ask?
Andy Rodker June 03, 2018, 07:59 PM
Hi Laura. Just seen, sorry - a very busy few days. I ask because of the correspondence between us about my instinctive dislike of your 'crappy' group name on that other site and I assume that you two went back a long way, that's all! Not important!
