Rock pool, Gurnard's Head, Zennor, Cornwall

This is actually a rainwater rock pool as it is is a lot higher than the high tide mark (although stormy seas will fill these quite easily!)

It looks a bit barren. No salt resistent plants interested in the habitat?

It's rainwater, not saltwater. And pure granite above the cliffs. No soil here. Only lichen will grow.

Usually, where there is sweet to slightly brackish (from ocassional storm washes) water and stones with some cracks collecting dust and providing hold for a seed , just some hardy specialists will occure in time, also in granite...

Insufficient crack sizes here, but just behind and next to me were profusions of sea thrift and a lot of rock samphire. Just not in this shot. The water here is no more than a puddle; I got down really low and it looks much bigger in this shot than it really is!!! From the bottom edge of the photo to the first rocks out of the water is no more than a metre.
