No-one now knows who Ralph was or what his cupboard was. Probably piracy and/or smuggling related!
It looks like there is a faint path along the crest but there isn't and people would be mad to try and walk along it. Even me!
Have a good week!
Best wishes,
Andy
As far as I know the quality of the rock is too poor for climbing. At least I don't know of any routes recorded here and I've never seen anyone try!
remmelt. Thank you! I agree. This is the most plausible explanation for this strange name!
Many thanks
BJW, thank you too!
Best wishes, Andy
I tried to research it and beneath a few pages trying to sell Ralph Lauren furniture I found actually others about your rock here. :o)
Looks Remmelt has guessed just as good... there is a smuggler *and* a moster....

I also went and had a look at the Google page. Amazing!! So many of the photos are mine! And most of them are accredited to other people!!! (I'm not bothered, just astonished!)
I had shots stolen in spite of retaining full copyrights and never posting full size originals myself. Usually not very bothered either, although I of course enjoy aknowledgement if somebody uses my work and in some cases would rather not give the permission when it is taken to illustrate somethink I am not supporting, but as long it is harmless nice folks who ask politely I most often give the permission for free or for a personal sample of a comercial work using my shots.
Some people just lack basic manners.
It is only my Cornwall shots that are used without my permission. (My Spanish shots get no such recognition!). On Panoramio, I had many shots stolen, photos used by Cornish Estate Agencies, hotels, that sort of thing.
On two occasions university students asked my permission - one doing a thesis on geology, the other on medieval history. I was pleased that they had good manners!!!
