Best wishes, Doug
PS do you get a prize if you complete a whole line on the anti-spam grid?
Well, at least it is a little quicker and at least they are listening and trying out solutions!
Best wishes, Andy
Are you one of the Sonja's I knew from Pano?
Thank you and best wishes, Andy
Cordial greetings, Cornelia
Carlos,
Cornelia,
Thank you all!
Best wishes, Andy
No I am an Ipernity member that went there from Flickr a few years ago but I did recognize you here as one of the newer members regulary interacting with a few of my contacts there before the plot on Ipernity as is getting closed or changed to the worse at the very least thickened...
In the real world, I would never consider to rent a house in a gated comunity where I can not have special visitors from outside go to my flat and feel at home and welcome for some hours now and then, discussing things there and look at stuff that is nothing I would make a topic with a superfically known nice neighbor -- unless they pay themselves fees at the gate as high as my rent, so why on earth should I do so online???
There are blueheads, several blueheads who never abused bandwith, leer at or download pics by strangers they do not know, but whom I need to give access to highest privacy level and the ability to recive notifications as I am an auntie that photographs it all -- and that incudes everybodies wee grandkids and such -- at the family reunions and whose hiking shots are followed by some of the hubbies sibblings and cousins, and the way blueheads are frowned upon over there now, I better find a new home for me and my very own blueheads fast, and I think we can do with 23hq.
I certainly understand some of what you say.
From my point of view, we all live in our own realities, with different expectations and aspirations. I just wish there were photosharing websites to suit all needs and wants!! Perhaps there were, 10 years ago. but it seems these are now considered antideluvian, in the great 'digital wars' scheme of things. We are but little people so we can observe, fear, moan, fear some more and, perhaps, sometimes ignore - for temporary peace of mind. I think the last of these is best for me tonight, or I won't sleep well!!!
Good night!!
Have a good week!
It was already before the recent issues, some folks showed distrust and resentment of anyone not getting themselves a custom icon very soon after joining and having some pages of content up. One problem in Ipernity is that folks always can see who visited a shot also sans commenting and tend then to feel stalked by the faceless, visit them back and if the account is bearing no info at all about the members interests feel even more uncomfortable than if it was definately creepy. LOL
But now that non-paying members are identified the source of doom, the rootcause of business failure it has become worse. Getting rid of all non-payers and of vacant looking accounts if you cant get them to subscribe to a paid account seems the panacea to many of those active members trying to safe the service...
But have a look at the IMA survey. 98.4% of participating users say they engage in Photo Sharing but only 56.5% claim to be into Comments/Interaction at all. As we can assume from site rules and standards those 43.5% users with no interest into Comments/Interaction either use the site for storing and organizing uploads to go to an outside blog or chat forum without storage space for the users or to share with real life associates who wont use the commenting abilities of the site but rather tell them how they liked the newest uploads during the next phone call or get together. The later might just not have reflected, as the survey itself was not clear about it, that they themselves paying much more than before would them not at all retain possibility to do what they do -- unless they got no missgivings about making all their shots public accessible and do their notifying pasting links in an outside e-mail account -- or they would not show any interest in saving the site itself but only the order and labels of their stuff to still find everything as easy after retrieving it.
You need to read those long discussions on the staff blog and the IMA group to see where that site is headed -- to become an exclusive social users club that might survive as such -- or not.
At least I have learnt one new thing today! Blueheads!! Thanks for that!
