New toy: A Beseler Topcon Unirex from somewhere between 1969 and 1973. The lens is a very useful 50mm/f2.

The mercury batteries it uses were outlawed in the 1980s and I had to jam a hearing aid battery into the camera. I've shot a test roll and the exposure meter seems to work fine with the new battery. It shoots either fully manual or shutter priority (all manual focus of course).

As soon as I get them scanned I'll put up some of my first shots. They turned out remarkably well. The only problem is that getting film developed is so expensive.

The camera even has spot metering!

Sweet!

I have an old Yashica I got from my dad. I learned how to operate an SLR using that. And it was great. The pictures come out amazing. And there's just something about going fully manual.

Tillykke med det gamle retrocamera. Med manuel indstilling vl det tage sin tid at få skabt et ordentligt billede i søgeren, men held og lykke med det

@Pollas I was actually looking to buy a Yashica Electro 35, but I could not find any available near me so I went with an old SLR instead. Coincidentally, this topcon uniflex has a leaf shutter just like the yashica instead of the now normal focal plane shutter (the shutter is placed between the mirror and the lens, not very practical for an SLR).

Nice. The light meter in my Pentax K-1000 just died. I have been thinking of picking up a range-finder.

I really wanted a rangefinder because of the lighter weight (this topcon is really heavy), but there were none to be found on the boston craigslist, so I had to settle for an SLR. :o)
