The office. Or least until the proper owners figure out that I'm using their room.

Gggrrrr...
Am getting my new MacBook end of the month.
Can't wait !!!

Look forward to it! I think it's a great value-for-money deal. Not too expensive and you really get a lot of computer (and it's not too big). Oh, and the keyboard is absolutely fantastic to type on.

It's my first mac and I'm liking it very much. Mac OS is mostly good and the hardware is all good.

The keyboard is good to type on? Have tried it for a few minutes in the new Mac store in Vesterbrogade, and it feels funny. Like the keys are too wide apart from each other. How about the screen?
Andreas Haugstrup Pedersen October 25, 2006, 08:37 PM
I have long fingers so the wide spacing is godsent for me. What I really like though is how light a touch is needed when punching the keys. Makes it really good for writing long letters.

What's not cool is Apple's strange way of handling special characters. Alt+Shift+8 to make curly brackets? That's not cool.

And the screen? Too bright, I've heard....
Andreas Haugstrup Pedersen October 28, 2006, 06:17 PM
I run the screen at around 3/4 of the brightness (4 of the little dots when you hit F1 or F2 are left black). Unless I'm outside in the sun of course. When the brightness is all the way up the blacks turn out grey-ish, but not as bad as on my old laptop (a 5 year old Dell).

I'm not really the one to ask because my only other laptop is so old and I don't have anything else to compare with. I can say that the glossy screen is something I find very nice (movies and photos are well-saturated) and I don't have issues with reflextions. But I don't think the macbook screen is anything special. Looking at other laptops in stores all the screens look pretty similar to me.

Thanks for the info. I looking for a laptop worthy to work with regarding Photoshop, Capsure One or the like. But I guess it is still to early to 'trust' any laptop-screen yet.

Claus. you want a Macbook Pro + external monitor.
Andreas Haugstrup Pedersen October 29, 2006, 07:29 PM
I'm finding myself wanting an external screen myself. It's just not fun working on a laptop screen when in the "office".

Any pc laptop with a screen as good as Apples?
Andreas Haugstrup Pedersen October 30, 2006, 08:38 PM
I've no idea. They all seem very similar to me. Do you know of any, Andreas?

I'm not really the expert but Lacie has always been a safe bet:

That is some wicked screen
Andreas Haugstrup Pedersen October 30, 2006, 09:47 PM
It also carries a proper price!

At home I use a Dell workstation and a new Lacie 120 lcd screen. Combined with a Gretag Eye One kalibrator I get fairly good colors.

I am proud to announce that I am a Mac user now.
Best computing experience I have ever had.

Congratulations! :o)
