This is an image of the inside of my left eye, taken using a laser scanner. I've had a haemorrhage in this eye for about 4 months. This image shows the blood that's leaked out into my retina - the small dark blotches inside the white rectangle. The cause is still being investigated!

OMG! Poor you! Is it painful? Have you had any blow or... high blood pressure?! <:(
I hope with all my heart, doctors to find out the reason for this haemorrhage and to treat it.
LoL:***)

Thanks Gergana! No, there's no pain. All the obvious causes like diabetes, high blood pressure, etc have been ruled out. They've given me aspirin to prevent clotting, but I'm still waiting for the results of various other tests and go back to the hospital on 25th February!

Hey, all the best for you! But I must say, the photo in itself is very fascinating..you seldom see yourself so near.

Oh Stevie! All the best from me too!

Many thanks for your good wishes, FrauFeli and Volker - much appreciated. And FrauFeli, you're right - this is not a perspective on myself that I'm very familiar with, which is perhaps as it should be!

All the best for you! I hope they find the reason and can help you.

How did you get the foto? It a fascinating view! My eyes have to be scanned once a year by a doctor (a very pretty female one :-)) I will ask her for a foto (of my retina, not of her).

Thanks Jotty!

Well, for all of you kind enough to wish me the best, I went back to the hospital yesterday. At the moment the eye is getting better and there are no complications. However, they want to keep me under observation for the next 18 months (!) in case new blood vessels start to grow and then leak. If this happens they have to cauterise them with lasers. Sounds lovely! And they also found some blood abnormality which might be predisposing me to clotting, so next I have to see the haematologist.

And all this from a simple visit to the optician's for an eye test....!!

Be glad you have been there! Because of my diabetis I have to let my eyes be controlled once a year. Up to now it was not necassary to get lasered, but as far as I know this is not painful any more. Good luck!

Glad to hear that you are fine after all.
