Les Ostensions du Dorat
Every seven years, the local Limousin villages celebrate their patron saints. The biggest of these "ostensions" is at Le Dorat in Haute-Vienne. This year's ostensions were the 50th. The celebrations are a remarkable mixture of religious and civic, with the main focus being on the relics of two saints, Israël and Théobald. However, most of the pageantry comes from the villagers dressing up as musketeers and Napoleonic soldiers! The children also dress up and take part in religious cameos as everyone processes around the village streets.
