Hi, great photo's! My name is Simon - and yes I am a Blankenstein living in Australia. My father (originally from Rotterdam) and younger brother visited the castle many years ago and I have been meaning to visit for some time - possibly in the next few years.

My mother was born in Amsterdam with the family name Blankenstein. I am putting togther a family tree for my brother David and I am trying to find all sorts of intersting facts to do with our family tree. This being one of them

Hi,
If you any help with your family tree in Holland I might be able to help.
I've been to the castle Blankenstein 3 times above, and also visited the castle the ruins in Gladenbach and been to the villages Blankenstein Saale and Blankenstein Wilsdruff.

I am trying to peice together a portion of family history. Here is goes if anyone can help.

My great grand mother

My grandfather said he found a book in either Castle Blankenstein or Castle Mildenstein that contains family history dating back to 1390. Any help from anyone would be so greatly appreciated!

Hello Simon,

Maybe a strange question but a long time ago my mother Toos (Cato) Maidenname Satter dated Jan Blankenstein who was living in Rotterdam (in the 1960). I don't know if that is you father but my mother told me about him. I'm her daughter.

Can you say if he is your father please?

More info:
I called my mother and she told me that he and his mother lived West Varkenoordse weg nearby Soccerstadion Feyenoord. When they looked outside they saw a rail of a trainstation. My mother told me that he has a twinbrother.

My Great great great grandmother was Johanna Sophia Blankenstein, and she was born 1819 and married my Great great great grandfather Willem Cornelius van Heurs...I m trying to find out more about both the Blankensteins and the van Heurs...they were both born in Amsterdam and both died there, Johanna in 1890 and Willem in 1904....with Kind regards Laura

Beste orianda kurk.ik heb jou vraag gelezen en wil toch even reageren ik ben een broer van jan Blankenstein ,ik heb jouw moeder Toos wel gekent in die tijd en dat jan een beetje verkering met jouw moeder.jan is later alleen naar australie geëmigreerd en daar behuwd met janet crowe en kregen daar samen vijf kinderen drie jongens en twee meiden.hun huwelijk liep stuk ,hij is nog div. keren in Nederland te zijn geweest en weer terug gekeerd,en is daar 12 jaar geleden na een ernstig auto ongeluk aan een hart stilstand overleden ik hoop dat dit jouw wat verder kan helpen groeten Matthijs
