It's rather ironic that Wagner expired in Italy. He mostly held Italian opera in contempt, once referring to its composers as "Italian capons." The house from which he was borne off to Valhalla is the one on the right. I understand it is now owned by the Hotel Cipriani (known to the Hollywood crowd as "The Chip"), which uses it as a hotel.
