I'd be tempted, as the temp. currently sits at 101˙F at 10:30PM, to jump right in and swim alongside the swan =) Granted, it might beat me up for my efforts, but, it might just be worth it =P

Rather dangerous to swimm in the New Rhine at all times, but especially at a high water bringing hard and dast wood pieces. Remember Martina's shot of the Rigoletto stage around the time? That wood soup at the base of open air theatre in the Bregenz Bay? Guess where it came from.... :o(
How the waterfowl and gulls manage to swim and even feed in the curren and survive that is a miracle. It's a gravel pit and a place with a drastic undercurrten even if there is no high water flooding the riparian areas and taking the understory out.
