The wild ones don't seem to grow in the same "clumpy" way seen with hybridized irises... They are beautiful, though =) Nice find!

Oh, sometimes they do and sometimes they dont. But in the first week of May it is rare you see huge blooming lumps, just one precocious blossom here and there. A bit later I took pics at the Hanselholz east of Ailingen, and there stood several huge distinct clumps in full bloom. Next time I was to Eriskirch it was not only slowly ending season with the first brown shriveled blossoms amongst the perfect ones, it was also a most miserble weather change surprising us just at arrival. There where many blue flowers in varying density two stands of the alba form far away, one could be called a veritable clump the other had two blossoms on one steem. But I got no pics this year of any of those. I used to have many good example shots of wild I. Sibirica clumps in situ from previous years online, but as of late the services cleaned up there is just not much left outside my offline archives. Here is a shot from last year, May 25.th :
