This door is fairly comfortable in size for modern people actually. This is not the real early medieval entrance way but installed into the ruin so people walk all way up indoors to the lookout somewhen much later. Originally a door was a good flight of stairs up, and there was a removable ladder to go in and out. Ground floor would have been either a prison cell or root cellar with no level way to get out, to reach with a ladder from inside above. You see not the room here, just the way broken through the wall. It is several metres thick at the base.
