Cormorants / Kormorane / Phalacrocorax carbo

Compared to the last July pic of the same gravel bank, it just looks like nobody went very far.... not even the lone Grey Heron ;o) / Im direkten vergleich mit dem Bild der selben Kiesbank im letzten July scheint sich niemand sehr weit bewegt zu haben, nicht mal der einzelne Graureiher ;o)

LOL -- if that would be all American Double-crested Cormorants, there would be a few hundreds of European birder around leering at the miracle. No, we got our very own cormorants, enough of them to have a nice little fisher war....

As you can see if you look carefully at the background ducks, those two swimming closest to the island are Common Goldeneye...

He is only a Grey Heron... note the dull back and black on the head.... they look a lot like american Blue Heron, only a little washed out and smaler. But it is indeed eerie he was almost in the same spot again after so many months, or is it an other one of his species?

Yeah, heron... That's actually what I meant to type, but my fingers seem to have had a mind of their own at the time ;)
