What is around can be very different and changes with the seasons a lot. In summer, this manmade gull and tern breeding place has many cute chicks on the gravel islands and the rafts and attracts raptors the furious parents attack. In a propper winter this is where to go to see Great Egret and Great Bittern l stalk the frozen edge of the reed, and if very lucky, some hardy peeps will use the islands as night rest.
Inbetween colourful waterfowl liking sheltered shallow waters without a current are the most interested customers. I was a bit sadened to see no Pintails, Tadornes or Graylags this time either in the lagoon or the open bay. I also thought there was no Fergie. But fortunately the later just saved itself for the end of the tour.

This is just a tiny fraction of the wintering flocks in the austrian rhine delta, just a crop out of some birds of different species that went into an intentional created shallow with artificial islands, depicted still large enough to spot fieldmark differences. The problem with wide angle pics of more birds at once is, thats just going to be similar specks up to the horizon. :o( But Lake Constance is famous for the carpets of migrating swans, ducks, diving birds and rallidae in some harbours and protected bays during the winters.
