Actually mass production from very, very long ago. Catholic mission distributed them to the parishes for creche decorations. They come more often as little boys for some cause and they are mechanical savings boxes that nod when they get coins put in. It was to make young german children donate pennies for poorer children in Africa joyfully, back when pocket money came usually in smal coins. Many people think today they are about racissm and demeaning for some cause, this is why in most churches they are not put up any longer, alas.
