Magnolia / Magnolie

A cultivar with a nice blossom, not surprising as down in the Alto Adige it is rather warm and mild compared to our own side of the alps. / Eine perfekte Vorgartenbluete, nicht ueberraschend, im Vintschgau ist es doch um einiges milder als bei uns daheim.

This is a lovely magnolia and such a pretty color.

They're known as Saucer Magnolias (Magnolia × Soulangeana ↔ Magnolia denudata × Magnolia liliiflora)... It is one of the most common types of ornamental Magnolias and amongst the most hardy/tolerant of cold climes --- surpassed only by the Star Magnolia.

It is a big tree, a similar typ of magnolia as that of my neighbor across in Friedrichshafen that I see from my north windows, and also the one in front of Saint Petrus Canisius. Might be that it is most common, but this here blossomed a bit earlier down there south and all without any blemishes from frost.

Sonja.... They are all over the place here.... My parents have one in their backyard that's ~30ft. tall with a 60+ ft. spread. When it blooms, it is a sight to behold!

Those here are pretty too, provided all the nights during blooming time are in the + celsius and there is no hail and such... and they grow despite of all the blossoming incidents rather well in size. We got quite a few capital magnolias in town that are already several decades old.
